Chicago Concert Details
The dream tour will be coming to Chicago, Illinois May 9th 2017 and you can bet your ass Bolgen will be in attendance. Tickets are about $40.00, but they will be selling out quickly if they haven’t already. There is plenty of room on the floor of the Vic Theatre in Downtown Chicago, so be prepared for an action heavy performance on stage as well as in the audience.
Gojira has been a terrific act to endure live and has shaped their own concert environment over the last few years. A consistently brewing moshpit and constant crowd surfacing are the usual at their concerts. Gojira’s music has shaped a new chapter in metal lyrics and theme. The band’s music is often wary of the damages and irreparable harm that humanity has inflicted on the Earth. Furthering that idea, Gojira has also captured the human sentiment of healing and self growth. Their lyrics often evoke a sense of hope and desire for a better world and a better life for all. The band has no doubt gained enormous popularity in the last few years which can be attributed to their distinct sound, punishing rhythm and incredible drum work. Gojira’s live performance is the one of the tightest sounding rhythm heavy performances available live today.
Devin Townsend Project
Pottsee has been a fan of Townsend’s Strapping Young Lad for several years. In his opinion SYL’s “City” Album, and “Heavy as A Really Heavy Thing” we’re incredibly ahead of their time. The song “In The Rainy Season” in particular, has a sensational choir background section over the chorus that drives a whole new dynamic into the death metal production sound. Also included and equally brutal, was the fact that Gene Hoglan, arguably the best metal drummer of today, was brought into the national eye through SYL. But, enough about the past, Townsend’s recent endeavors in his self titled group Devin Townsend Project are also incredibly riveting. The DTP’s sound includes a lot of the layered magnificence that can be found throughout Townsend’s career. The DTP is a variety of flavors mostly hovering in the progressive rock/metal range, although the vocals will often vary into other genre areas. There’s still plenty of power for the average metal head to find in listening to the Devin Townsend Project
Gojira Opeth and Devin Townsend Project Live
It’s incredibly fortunate that these three bands are available at the same show. Likewise the cost ($40.00) is a great deal. Take advantage now, tickets are most likely already sold out for the Chicago concert. There is an additional tour date in Indianapolis Illinois on May 15th, but ticket availability probably will not last long!
